The Silent Valley National
Park is situated 40 km away from Mannarkkad in the district
of Palakkad, Kerala. Covering an area of 90 sq km, this Kerala
wildlife sanctuary was notified as a national park in 1980.
Tucked away in the Kundali Hills in the Western Ghats, the
national park is referred as a core of the Nilgiri Biosphere
Reserve. The best time to travel to the Silent Valley National
Park in Kerala is in between the months of September and March.
The Silent Valley National
Park offers shelter to more than 1,00 species of plants, 100
species of butterfly, 400 species of moths, 26 species of
mammals, 120 species of birds, 11 species of reptiles, 9 variety
of lizards and 11 species of amphibians. This national park
